Checking in documents
Checking in a document with Application Integration happens when you have a document that is checked out to you open in a Windows application, you use the Save As command, and complete the action using the Application Integration dialog. Checking in a document with Application Integration performs the following actions:
- Copies the document from your Local Workspace to the vault
- Checks the document in for you (if it was checked out to you)
- Unlocks the document in the vault
- Makes your Local Workspace copy of the document read-only
Note When you use a Windows application's Save command when editing a document that is checked out to you using Application Integration, the file is saved in your Local Workspace but not checked in.
To check in a new document to the vault, see Importing documents.
To check in a document with Application Integration:
- From within the Windows application with which you are editing the document, on the File menu select Save As. If you have opened a document from the vault with the same filename before, the Check in dialog appears so that you can confirm whether you want to check the document in and select which Local Workspace document to check in.
- Select the Local Workspace file that you want to check in and click Check In. If the document is checked out to you, the CheckIn Wizard appears.
- Complete the wizard as described in Checking in documents.
- Close the document in the Windows application. The document is not checked out to you, is read-only, and any changes that you make will not be saved in the vault.
To work on the document again, open it as described in Checking out documents.
